Magic Chess - more than a card game
Magic Chess is a rule extension to the traditional chess game. Bring chess to the next level, using spells and action cards that give special moves to your pieces. Using cards, and mana counters, while still having the board and the chess pieces in front of you that you can physically engage with, Magic Chess is more than a simple card game. You can spice up the good old chess with these cards, turning it to a complex tabletop game that you'll never get bored of.
WARNING
Magic Chess is not a standalone game, and the cards are not enough on their own to play the game. You will need a chess board with the pieces in addition to the cards to be able to play the game, but hopefully you already have that. If not, then get one quickly. Literally any chess board will do. If you have one that has draughts pieces as well, even better, as you can use them as mana counters instead of the cards.
The story
I used to play chess a lot with my daughter. We enjoyed it so much, we usually played several games a day. One day, during one of our games, we were joking about making special moves with our pieces. These innocent jokes ignited the whole idea of this game. We were throwing our ideas in one right after another, so now I understand what the word brainstorming means. It was truly like a storm, with new ideas thundering in just seconds apart. Within minutes, we came up with so many new rules, we had to grab pen and paper to write them down. Within days, we had our first printed deck, cut out from standard A4 copy paper by hand, and we started testing our new game, fine-tuning and balancing the cards and planning the design. A few weeks later, I had the first prototype deck in my hands, thanks to the UK based card game manufacturer Ivory Graphics.
Our vision
We believe that our game is a revolutionary idea, while it is building upon something already existing and well known everywhere. We can vision people playing with Magic Chess all around the world, competing in championships, building their own unique decks from the approved cards and trying them against other decks. With your help, we can get there within years. If you like the idea, support us by purchasing one of the first decks of the game, and spread the word.
